Take-in Downtown Canton
Are you looking for more of a city-vibe? Great! Make reservations for you and your plus one at Bender’s Tavern located in the historic district of downtown Canton. Known for its steaks and seafood, Bender’s Tavern has been serving up great food for over 100 years. After devouring dinner, be sure to head to The Martini Lounge at Market Square for a delicious signature martini in an intimate setting.
Don’t want to commit to just one food experience? Try a Canton Food Tour! The walking tour takes you through downtown Canton on a culinary and historic adventure. You’ll sample some of the most popular and exciting dishes from a variety of local downtown establishments while learning about the chefs, food, and history of Canton.
Plan to stay downtown for a weekend, because there’s so much to take in, like the Canton Arts District. From the curated work at the Canton Museum of Art to the well-known and new-to-you photo pieces at The Joseph Saxton Gallery of Photography, Canton allows you to dive into the world of art. Don’t forget to pop in to see eclectic, local pieces at Avenue Art and Theatre and The Hub Art Factory. Wander around the area and you’ll find even more street art dotting the downtown.
For a playful date, add the Escape Room to your agenda for an interactive and engaging activity before you check out Lucca, known for their authentic Italian meals and locally sourced ingredients. Next up: the Canton Music Block. From funky, Indie bands watched with Pabst and a shot of Jack at Buzzbin Art & Music Shop to George’s Lounge’s low-key, small stage of local musicians and a burger, you’ve got a lot on your plate.

One of our favorite hidden gems is the McKinley Museum and Monument which houses history exhibits, an animal area, hands-on-activities and even a planetarium. Right outside the museum is a large park with a great walking path and plenty of playground equipment. Don’t forget to go up and down the McKinley Monument stairs while you’re there.
The architecturally stunning Canton Palace Theater is a must-see as well! Whether you’re catching a movie or a live music performance, the historic theater features a dreamy night sky with rolling clouds (original to the theater!)
Prepare for your day-long excursion with a latte and big-ol-waffle (savory or sweet) from Cultured Coffee + Waffles.
A Tuscan Vineyard Experience
Look no further than Gervasi Vineyards for an entire weekend. Unlike any other Ohio winery, there are villas to stay (a hotel soon), multiple dining options on-site and the grounds are breathtaking.
The first of three dining options at Gervasi is the Piazza, an offshoot of the Bistro offering a lighter menu with salads, handhelds, and pizza. Accompanied, of course, with the full selection of house-made wines and signature beers, it’s ideal for these summer months when you want to sit back and relax. The Piazza hosts live music throughout the week and is outfitted with a bocce court, corn hole area, and a massive outdoor fireplace.
Upscale dining (year-round) in the Bistro is available for those looking for lush-interior, wine flights, hardy Tuscan fare, and an intimate atmosphere. Be sure to make reservations, it’s a popular spot for locals and visitors alike.
Lastly, Gervasi’s casual experience is the Crush House, a more relaxed spot offering contemporary-American fare with an upscale bar vibe, and plenty of patio space for nicer weather…
With a culinary-packed agenda, you should stay a while. The Villas at Gervasi transport you into a grand experience, with cushy beds and beautiful accents. The Villas are the ideal way to extend your stay and enjoy the grounds further.
Be sure to check on Gervasi’s website to find events to attend throughout the year. During the summer months, you can look forward to the 720 Market, run and wine events, a chocolate festival and plenty more.
